 D. Prepare for Removal
 S 494-002
 (1) Make sure all the ground locks are installed in all landing gear.
 S 494-032
 WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Wing Landing Gear" (Ref 32-00-30/201).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (3)  Do this task to pressurize hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4:
 "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (Ref 29-11-00/201).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (4)  Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 5-unit position.

Adjust the aileron trim system:

 (a)  
Manually move the captain's and the first officer's control wheels to the neutral position.

 (b)  
Make sure you can easily install rig pin A/S-2.


 NOTE: The rig pin must stay in its hole for the subsequent
____ adjustment to keep the trim system at the center.
 1)  If it is necessary, use the trim system switches and move the control wheel until you can easily install rig pin A/S-2 (Fig. 401).
 (c)  With a clamp, attach the straightedge across the thumbrests on the captain's and first officer's control wheels.

Do this task if electrical power is not necessary: "Electrical Power Removal" (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Open the hinged access panel (591CB, left wing; 691CB, right) on the lower surface of the wing immediately inboard of the outboard aileron power control package (Ref 06-09-08/201).

Procedure


 S 024-013
 (1)  
Remove the lockout mechanism (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Remove the turnbuckle clip locks.

 (b)  
Disconnect the control cables AA and AB at the turnbuckles.

 (c)  
Attach tags to identify the disconnected cable ends.


 NOTE: On the left wing, make sure at installation, to put
____ cable AA15 in the top groove of quadrant, and cable AB15 in the bottom groove. On the right wing, make sure to put cable AB16 in the top groove of quadrant, and cable AA16 in the bottom groove.

 (d)  Remove the cables from the lockout mechanism quadrant.
 (e)  Remove the connector from the electric actuator.
 (f)  Disconnect the control rod from the lockout mechanism output
