 F. Procedure
 S 494-043
 (1)  
Do these steps to install the rudder clamp, and remove the rudder actuator lock (referred to as the lock):

 (a)  
Make sure the upper rudder is aligned with the lower rudder.

 (b)  
Install the rudder clamp between the upper and the lower rudders approximately two inches from the trailing edge.

 (c)  
Remove the pin that connects the lock to the rudder.

 (d)  
Remove the four bolts that attach the lock to the pillow block (3).

 (e)  
Remove the lock from the airplane.

Examine the parts that attach the lower actuator for worn areas.

 (3)  
Make sure the lower actuator (6) is retracted.

 (4)  
Use the fishpole hoist and the hoist frame equipment to install the lower actuator (6):

 (a)  
Put the actuator (6) in its position on the pillow block (3) with the hydraulic ports on the left.

 CAUTION:_______INSTALL A NEW WASHER (10) ON ALL FOUR BOLTS (9). IF YOU TIGHTEN A BOLT AND THEN LOOSEN IT, YOU MUST REPLACE THE WASHER. THE TORQUE ON THE BOLTS CAN BE INCORRECT IF YOU INSTALL USED WASHERS.

 (b)  
Install a new torque indication washer (10) with the countersink to the head of the bolt (9).

 (c)  
Install the four bolts (9).

 (d)  
Tighten the bolts (9) until you cannot turn the center of the torque indication washers (10) by hand.

 (e)  
Make sure the bolt assembly (27) is assembled correctly: 1) Make sure the cap (20), cap screws (18), washers (19) and

 housing assembly (21) are installed. 2) Make sure the lockwire is installed on the cap screws (18).

 (f)  
Install the bushing (23) on the bolt assembly (27). 1) Apply the adhesive to the bushing (23). 2) Make sure the bushing (23) touches the head of the bolt

 assembly (27) with a minimum axial force of 70 pounds.

 (g)  
Remove the caps from the hydraulic ports.

 (h)  
Put the rod end of the actuator (6) in its position in the lower actuator fitting (24).

 (i)  
Install the bolt assembly (27).

 1)  Make sure the bolt assembly (27) engages the anti-rotation stop (23).

 (j)  
Install the washer (25) and nut (26).

 (k)  
Tighten the nut (26) to 1100-1200 pound-inches more than the run-on torque.

 (l)  
Install the summing lever support (17).

 (m)  
Install the washers (31) and the bolts (32).

 (n)  
Install the washer (33) and the bolt (34).

 (o)  
Tighten the bolts (32).

 (p)  
Install the washer (29) and collar (28) on the bolt (34).

 (q)  
Tighten the bolt (34).

 (5)  
Fill the bolt holes in the pillow block (3) forward of the bolts (9) with sealant.

Connect the hydraulic lines H3 and H4 to the lower actuator (6):

 (a)  
Remove the caps from the hydraulic lines.

 (b)  
Apply a layer of the hydraulic fluid or the assembly lube to the hydraulic fittings.

 (c)  
Connect the hydraulic lines H3 and H4.

Do the procedure to put the airplane back to its usual condition.

 (8)  
Do the operational test of the lower rudder power control actuators (AMM 27-21-16/501).
