Remove the Hinge

(1)
Do these steps to remove hinge No. 2, or 3.
(a)
Remove the lockbolt (14), the washer (15), and the nut (16).
(b)
Remove the nut (17).
(c)
Loosen the threaded bushings (12) until their ends are fully retracted.
(d)
Remove the pin (11 or 21) from the hinge.
(e)
Remove the bolts (2) (8 locations).
(f)
Remove the bonding jumper (20) from the rudder.
(g)
Remove the bearing assembly (1).

Do these steps to remove hinge No. 6.
(a)
Remove the nut (28) and the bolt (23).
(b)
Remove the bolts (48) (4 locations).
(c)
Remove the bonding jumper (20) from the rudder.
(d)
Remove the hinge upper segment (49) and the hinge lower segment (45).
(e)
Remove the bolt (9) (4 locations).
(f)
Remove the bolt (6) (2 locations).
(g)
Remove the hinge lower assembly (5) (with the hinge upper assembly (10) attached) from the rudder front spar.

Remove the nut (40).

(f)
Remove the bolt (2) (8 locations).
(g)
Remove the bonding jumper (20) from the rudder.
(h)
If access to the bearing assembly (1) is difficult, do the steps that follow: 1) Disconnect the 3 actuators of the power control package of
the upper rudder from the upper rudder. 2) Move the upper rudder full right.
(i)
Remove the bearing assembly (1).

A. General
(1)
Hinges No. 2 and 7 have two adjustable bushings. Hinges No. 3 and 8 have one adjustable bushing.
(2)
Hinges No. 7 and 8 have two pins that are concentric. Hinges No. 2 and 3 have only one pin.
