MAINTENANCE MANUAL

 S 735-051
 (2)
Do procedure 1 or procedure 2 to extend the servo units for the rudder ratio changers (AMM 27-21-12/501).

 (a)
Procedure 1 (airplanes with two SRM's P/N 285U0015-108 or later), see the rudder ratio extend test (AMM 27-21-00/501).

WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE FLAPS ARE RETRACTED. IF THE FLAPS ARE NOT RETRACTED, THEY CAN MOVE WHEN YOU PRESSUREIZE THE PITOT-STATIC SYSTEM. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

 (b)
Procedure 2 (airplanes with any combination of SRM part numbers installed), supply a 3.37-3.52 psig pressure (363-371 knots) to the pitot port of the top right and top left pitot probes (AMM 34-11-00/201). 1) If the lower rudder moved more than 0.06 inch, adjust the

input rod for the rudder ratio changer. Adjust the input
rod until the rudder moves less than 0.06 inch.
 2)  If the rudder moved in a right direction when you extended the rudder ratio servos, make the input rod shorter. If the rudder moved in a left direction when you extended the rudder ratio servos, make the input rod longer.
 S 835-052
 (3)
Do these steps to adjust the input rod for the rudder ratio changer of the lower rudder.

 (a)
Large adjustment:
 1) Loosen the clamp bolt on the input rod.

NOTE: This is at the rudder ratio changer end of the
____
 input rod.

 2) Disconnect the input rod from the input crank of the rudder ratio changer. 3) Turn the rod end or the knurled adjuster nut.
NOTE: One full turn of the rod end and the knurled
____ adjuster nut together is equivalent to 2.1 inches of travel at the rudder trailing edge. One full turn of the rod end (when the knurled adjuster does not move) is equivalent to 1.6 inches of travel at the rudder edge.
 4)  Connect the input rod to the input crank of the rudder ratio changer with the bolt, washer, and nut.

 (b)  Small adjustment:
 1) Loosen the clamp bolt on the input rod.

NOTE: This is at the rudder ratio changer end of the
____
 input rod.

 2) Turn the knurled adjuster nut.
NOTE: One full turn of the knurled adjuster nut is
____ equivalent to 0.5 inches of travel at the rudder trailing edge.
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THE ROD ENDS ARE ENGAGED CORRECTLY. IF THE ROD ENDS ARE NOT ENGAGED CORRECTLY, THE ROD CAN BREAK.
 (c)
Make sure you can see the threads of the rod ends through the inspection holes and that no more than 10 threads are visible adjacent to the checknut.

 (d)
Tighten the clamp bolt on the input rod to 80-110 pound-inches.

 (e)
If procedure 1 was used, push the LSK that is adjacent to END TEST> on the CDU.

 (f)
If procedure 2 was used, slowly release the pressure from the pitot-static system (AMM 34-11-00/201).

 (4)
Adjust Lower Rudder Power Control Package (Fig. 501).

 (a)
Check that lower rudder trailing edge falls within the width of the index tab. If not, adjust the input rod to the power control module. 1) If the deviation is less than 1.43 inches (36.32 mm),

adjust as follows: a) Loosen the check nuts at both ends of the input rod for the power control module. b) Rotate the rod until the rudder trailing edge falls within the width of the index tab.
