 WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR IS POINTED FORWARD. IF THE TIRES ARE NOT PARALLEL WITH THE AIRPLANE , THEY CAN TURN QUICKLY WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TOW PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  Install the TOW PIN at the steering metering valve for the nose landing gear (Ref 09-11-00/201).
 NOTE: This is to make sure the nose landing gear does not turn.

Rudder Ratio Changer Error Message Test

 (1)  
Look for these messages on EICAS and the CDU.

 (a)  
Make sure the RUD RATIO SNGL and RUD RATIO DUAL amber messages do not show on the upper EICAS.

 (b)  
Do the rudder ratio changer existing faults check (Ref/27-21-00/501).

 (c)  
Open this circuit breaker:

 1)  P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel a) 7B12 UPR RUD RATIO AC PWR

 (d)  
Stop for a minimum of 5 seconds.

 (e)  
Make sure the RUD RATIO SNGL amber message shows on the upper EICAS.

Open this circuit breaker:

 1)  P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel a) 7B14 LWR RUD RATIO AC PWR

 (g)  
Stop for a minimum of 5 seconds.

 (h)  
Make sure the RUD RATIO DUAL amber message shows on the upper EICAS. 1) Close these circuit breakers:


 a) 7B14 LWR RUD RATIO AC PWR b) 7B12 UPR RUD RATIO AC PWR
 F.  Rudder Ratio Changer Test for Correct Rudder Travel

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THE AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Pressurize the four hydraulic systems (Ref 29-11-00/201).

 (2)  
Set the rudder trim to zero.


 S 715-053
 CAUTION:_______MOVE THE RUDDER PEDALS SMOOTHLY AND SLOWLY. THE MINIMUM TIME TO MOVE THE RUDDER PEDAL FROM ITS CENTER POSITION TO ITS FULL TRAVEL POSITION IS 2 SECONDS. IF YOU MOVE THE RUDDER PEDALS TOO FAST YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE POWER CONTROL PACKAGE.
 (3)  
Low speed test (0 knots)

 (a)  
Push the captain's left rudder pedal fully forward and hold it.


 1)  Make sure the rudder position indicators on the status page of EICAS show the rudders are fully left (the pointers are left of the third ten degree mark).
