Install the rudder clamp between the upper and the lower rudders approximately two inches from the trailing edge.

 (c)  
Remove the pin that connects the lock to the rudder.

 (d)  
Remove the four bolts that attach the lock to the pillow block (3).

 (e)  
Remove the lock from the airplane.

 (2)  Examine the parts that attach the upper actuator for worn areas.

 (3)  Make sure the upper actuator (4) is retracted.

 (4)  Use the fishpole hoist and the hoist frame equipment to install the upper actuator (4): (a) Put the actuator (4) in its position on the pillow block (3) with the hydraulic ports on the left.
 CAUTION:_______ INSTALL A NEW WASHER (10) ON ALL FOUR BOLTS (9). IF YOU TIGHTEN A BOLT AND THEN LOOSEN IT, YOU MUST REPLACE THE WASHER. THE TORQUE ON THE BOLTS CAN BE INCORRECT IF YOU INSTALL USED WASHERS.
 (b) (c) (d) (e) (f) (g) (h) (i) (j)  Install a new torque indication washer (10) with the countersink to the head of the bolt (9).Install the four bolts (9).Tighten the bolts (9) until you cannot turn the center of the torque indication washers (10) by hand.Install the bushing (14) on the bolt assembly (11). 1) Apply adhesive to the bushing (14). 2) Make sure the bushing (14) touches the head of the bolt with a minimum axial force of 70 pounds.Remove the caps from the hydraulic ports.Put the rod end of the actuator (4) in its position in the lower rudder attachment fitting (13).Install the bolt assembly (11). 1) Make sure the bolt assembly (11) engages the anti-rotation stop (12).Install the washer (15) and nut (16) on the bolt assembly (11).Tighten the nut (16) to 1100-1200 pound-inches more than the run-on torque.

 (5)  Fill the bolt holes in the pillow block (3) forward of the bolts (9) with sealant.

 (6)  Connect the hydraulic lines H1 and H2 to the upper actuator (4): (a) Remove the caps from the hydraulic lines. (b) Apply a layer of the hydraulic fluid or the assembly lube to the hydraulic fittings. (c) Connect the hydraulic lines H1 and H2.

 (1)  
Do the procedure to prepare for the removal of the PCA.

Disconnect the hydraulic lines H3 and H4 from the actuator (6):

 (a)  
Put a bucket below the actuator to catch the hydraulic fluid.

 (b)  
Disconnect the hydraulic lines from the actuator.

 (c)  
Install the caps on the hydraulic lines.
