Install a tag on the cables for identification during the installation.

Remove the rudder aft quadrant (Fig. 402):
(a)
Disconnect the input control rod from the quadrant crank.
(b)
Remove the nut, washer and bolt that attach the aft quadrant to the support bracket (Section A-A).
(c)
Remove the aft quadrant.

WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE THE NOSE WHEELS POINT FORWARD. IF THE NOSE WHEELS DO
NOT POINT FORWARD, THE NOSE GEAR CAN QUICKLY TURN TO THE
CENTERED POSITION WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TOW PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Install the TOW PIN at the steering metering valve for the nose landing gear (Ref 09-11-00/201).
NOTE: The nose gear will turn during the rudder operation if you
____ do not install the TOW PIN.

If you will install used parts, examine the parts for worn areas (Ref 27-21-08/601).

Install the rudder aft quadrant (Fig. 402):
(a)
Put the rudder aft quadrant in its position on the support bracket.
(b)
Install the bolt, bolt, washers, and nut to attach the aft quadrant to the support bracket (Section A-A).
(c)
Tighten the nut.
(d)
Turn the quadrant to make sure it moves easily.
(e)
Connect the cables RA and RB to the aft quadrant: 1) Put the cables on the aft quadrant. 2) Install the cable retainers with the screws, washers and
nuts.
(f)
Connect the input rod to the input crank with the bolt, washer and nut.

If you installed new control cables RA and RB:
(a)
Tighten the turnbuckles on the cables RA and RB equally until the tension is 250 |20 pounds.
(b)
Remove the rig pins R-3 and R-4.
(c)
Operate the rudder control pedals 25 times.
(d)
Install the rig pins R-3 and R-4.

Adjust the rudder control cables RA and RB:
(a)
Adjust the two turnbuckles equally to get the tension in the cables RA and RB to the tension shown in Fig. 403.
(b)
Make sure you can easily install and remove the rig pins R-3 and R-4.
(c)
Remove the rig pins R-3 and R-4.
(d)
Operate the rudder control pedals through one full cycle.
