WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR IS POINTED FORWARD. IF THE TIRES ARE NOT PARALLEL WITH THE AIRPLANE, THEY CAN TURN QUICKLY WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TOW PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Install the TOW PIN at the steering metering valve for the nose landing gear (Ref 09-11-00/201).
NOTE: The nose gear will turn during the rudder operation if you do

not install the TOW PIN.
D. Procedure

(1)
Do these steps to do a test of the upper power control actuator.
(a)
Find the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER switches on the pilot's overhead maintenance panel, P461. 1) Put the No. 4 TAIL switch in the NORM position.
(b)
Move the captain's left pedal fully forward and hold it there.
1) Make sure the status page of EICAS shows the lower rudder is fully left.

Move the captain's right pedal fully forward and hold it there.
1) Make sure the status page of EICAS shows the lower rudder is fully right.
(d)
Make sure the flight controls maintenance page of EICAS shows the lower rudder is 31.5 +/-1.5 degrees to the right.
E.
Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

Make sure the power control package and the power control actuators do not have hydraulic leaks.

Fill the hydraulic reservoirs (Ref 12-12-01/301).

Put the four TAIL switches in the NORM position.
