BODY GEAR DOORS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
___________________________________________
General (Fig. 1)
_______
 A.  The body gear doors consist of a body gear wheel well door, a body gear shock strut inboard door, and a body gear shock strut outboard door. The wheel well door is hydraulically actuated while the inboard and outboard shock strut doors are mechanically actuated by the body gear. All doors are of frame construction with skin paneling on each side.
Body Gear Wheel Well Door (Fig. 2)
_________________________
 A.  The body gear wheel well door consists of a body gear wheel well outboard door and a body gear wheel well inboard door. The outboard door is hinge-mounted to the longeron box structure. Two linkage rods connected to a hydraulic actuator provide for door movement and control. The wheel well inboard door is hinged to the outboard door and connected by one linkage rod to the hydraulic actuator. A safety bar is hinge-mounted to the inside of the outboard door and slide mounted to the inboard door. It provides door opening in the event of hydraulic failure. The wheel well doors close over the body gear wheel well opening when the gear is locked up or down. The doors may be manually opened for ground maintenance.
Body Gear Shock Strut Inboard Door (Fig. 3)
__________________________________
 A.  The body gear shock strut inboard door is hinged to the support structure under the keel beam and attached to the shock strut by a linkage rod. The door hinges outboard and closes the opening used by the drag strut.
Body Gear Shock Strut Outboard Door (Fig. 4)
___________________________________
 A.  The body gear shock strut outboard door is hinge-mounted to the longeron box fairing and attached to the shock strut by a linkage rod. The door hinges inboard and closes the area used by the gears shock strut.
Door Ground Release Handle
__________________________
 A.  The door ground release handle is located near aft inboard corner of body gear wheel well and is accessible through body gear strut door opening.
 B.  The operation of each door ground release handle drives the associated wing and body gear door safety valves to "pressure dumped" position and unlocks the door actuator locks. The weight of the door then causes the door to open. The safety valve and door lock actuation mechanism is identical with that used for emergency extension.
 C.  Release of doors on ground is accomplished by moving the ground door release handle to the doors open position. Closing of doors on ground is accomplished by pressurizing hydraulic systems No. 1 and No. 4 and moving the ground door release handle to the doors closed position. Refer to decal on the inboard aft main landing gear door adjacent to the ground door release handle for operating instructions, cautions and warnings.
