Procedure
S 038-007
(1)
Remove the lower gland nut.
(a)
Install the lower cam screw, if it is available, into the drain hole.
(b)
Hold the lower centering cam in its position with the finger tight pressure.
CAUTION: THE GLAND NUT CAN ACCIDENTALLY MOVE THE INNER CYLINDER
_______ DOWN WHEN YOU REMOVE THE NUT FROM THE OUTER CYLINDER. PUT THE CLOTH ON THE EDGE OF THE HOLE IN THE GLAND NUT TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE INNNER CYLINDER.
(c) Put a cloth around the inner cylinder (13) below the gland nut (9).
CAUTION: CLEAN THE HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM THE TIRES IMMEDIATELY IF
_______ THE HYDRAULIC FLUID GET ON THE TIRES. THIS WILL PREVENT THE TIRE DETERIORATION.
(d)
Put the tray to catch the hydraulic fluid when you remove the gland nut (9).
(e)
Remove the gland nut lockplate on the forward side of the nose landing gear for the outer cylinder (2) (section B-B, Fig. 802).

(2)
Install the axle jack at the jack pad for the nose landing gear.
(a)
Compress the shock strut for the nose landing gear.
(b)

(3)
Remove the lower bearing seals.
(a)
Procedure No. 1 (Retainer puller tool for the lower bearing seal is available) 1) Connect the puller tool to the lower bearing /seal carrier
and attach to the inner cylinder (13). 2) Lower the jack to permit the weight of the inner cylinder to pull the lower bearing from the outer cylinder. 3) Remove the puller tool.
(b)
Procedure No. 2 (The puller tool is not available)
WARNING: DO NOT INCREASE THE PRESSURE MORE THAN 100 PSI ON THE
_______ SHOCK STRUT. DO NOT USE AIR PRESSURE. THE AIR PRESSURE CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO MATERIALS.
1) Pressurize the shock strut with hydraulic pressure to get access to the lower bearing seals. a) Open the air valve. b) Fill the shock strut with hydraulic fluid through the
oil valve until the hydraulic fluid flows through the
air valve. c) Close the air valve. d) Slowly increase the pressure no more than 100 psi on
