 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE DEVICES TO HOLD THE STRUTS BEFORE YOU
_______ REMOVE THE BOLTS. THE DRAG AND THE JURY STRUT ASSEMBLY WEIGH APPROXIMATELY 330 POUNDS. THE BUNGEE IS SPRING LOADED. IF YOU DO NOT DO SO, THE STRUT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO PARTS.

Attach the bungee restraining tool to the bungee (AMM 32-33-16/401).

Procedure

 S 032-007
 (1)  
Disconnect the actuator strut (15) for the aft inboard door.

 (a)  
Remove the bolt (16), the spacers (17 and 22), the washer (23), the nut (24) and the cotter pin (25).

 S 032-008
 (2)  
Remove the pin assembly of the drag strut which has the bolt (1), the lubrication insert (3), and the O-rings (2).

 (a)  
Remove the nut (10), the washer (11) and the lockbolt (12).

 (b)  
Remove the nut (13) and the washer (14).

 (c)  
Install the thread protector.

 (d)  
Remove the drag strut bolt (1), the lubrication insert (3) and the O-rings (2) from the drag strut (9).

 (3)  
Remove the pin assembly of the shock strut which has the bolt (19), the lubrication insert (21) and the O-rings (20).

 (a)  
Remove the self-locking nut (4), the washer (5) and the lockbolt (6).

 (b)  
Remove the nut (7), the washer (8) and the shock strut bolt (19) with the lubrication insert (21) and the o-rings (20).

Examine the drag strut bolt (1), the shock strut bolt (19) and the universal (18) for the permitted worn areas (as specified in the paragraph for the Body Gear Drag Strut Universal Examination for Worn Areas).

Use the solvent to clean all the bolts, the washers, the nuts, the inserts, and the mating surfaces.

Prepare the pin assemblies for the installation.

 (a)  
Examine the O-rings (2 and 20) for the worn areas or the damage.

 NOTE: Replace the O-ring if it is necessary.

 (b)  
Apply a thick layer of grease on the O-rings (2, 20), the lubrication inserts (3, 21) and the inner surface of the bolts (1, 19).
