Examine the position of the closed stop on Station 340 bulkhead in the wheel well of the nose landing gear (Fig. 404).
(a)
Put the control handle of the landing gear in the OFF position.
WARNING: DO NOT MOVE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR AND THE FORWARD DOOR
_______ TOO QUICKLY. THIS WILL CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(b)
Make sure all persons and equipment are clear of the nose landing gear and the forward doors.
(c)
Put the manual release for the ground door in the open position to release the forward doors.
(d)
Put 3/4 inches thick of clay on the top of the stop where meets the torsion link (View Figure 404).
NOTE: Make sure the surface of the stop is clean and

dry before you apply the clay.
1) Apply a layer of lubricant on the top surface of the clay which meets the torsion link.
(e)
Jack the airplane for gear retraction (AMM 07-11-02/201).
(f)
Put the control handle in the UP position to retract the nose landing gear.
(g)
With the nose landing gear down and locked, measure the compressed clay thickness.
NOTE: The closed clearance (clay thickness) must be 0.50 |.10

inch (12.7 mm |2.5 mm) (Fig. 404).
(h)
Adjust the shims to the correct clearance position if it is necessary.
(i)
Remove the clay after you get the correct clearance.

(21)
Extend the nose landing gear.
(a)
Make sure that all persons and equipment are clear of the nose landing gear.
(b)
Put the control handle in the DN position to lower the nose landing gear.
(c)
Put the control handle in the OFF position.
(d)
Put the manual release handle of the ground door in the OPEN position.
