(2) Install the ground locks in all landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).

_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Nose Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).

Remove the hydraulic power from the system No. 1 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Lift the nose of the airplane with the fuselage jack until the dimension X on the NLG servicing chart (AMM 12-15-05/301) is approximately six inches (AMM 07-11-02/201).

Deflate the shock strut for the nose landing gear.
(a)
Remove the air valve cap.
WARNING: DO NOT LOOSEN THE AIR VALVE BODY UNLESS YOU FULLY DEFLATED
_______ THE SHOCK STRUT. THE INTERNAL PRESSURE CAN BLOW THE VALVE OUT. THIS WILL CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
(b) Loosen the air valve nut two turns maximum.
NOTE: The fluid in the shock strut will release bubbles
____ immediately when you decrease the pressure. Deflate the shock strut slowly to prevent a flow of fluid through the air valve.

(7) S 496-035Install the jack attached tool to the bottom of the axle.
(8) S 946-038Put the axle jack below the inner cylinder of the nose landing gear.
(9) S 586-037Lift the inner cylinder with the axle jack until the dimension X on the NLG servicing chart (Ref 12-15-05/301) is 4 |0.25 inches. (a) Make sure the nose gear tires are off the ground. (b) Adjust the fuselage jack and the axle jack if it is necessary.

Install the tow pin at the summing mechanism to move away the hydraulic pressure from the metering valve (AMM 09-11-00/201).

Install the torsional play tool.
NOTE:____The torsional play tool has 4 parts. Figure 601, Sht 2 shows these parts.
(a)
Install the lock assemblies (Parts 3 and 4) on the steering actuators.
(b)
Install the dial indicator to read the axle nut motion.
(c)
Install the torsional play tool into the jack attached tool. 1) Install the bare end of the reversible extension assembly (Part 2) into the jack attached tool.
2) Make the hole larger in the jack attached tool if it is necessary.
NOTE: The reversible extension assembly is installed 5.00
____ inches into the jack attached tool. This distance is the distance from the end of the extension assembly to the outer edge of the stop collar.
