The nose gear actuator acts directly on the nose gear trunnion. A small actuator operates to lock and to unlock the nose gear. A bypass valve linked to the nose gear lock mechanism prevents hydraulic pressure from reaching the nose gear actuator before the gear unlocks. A valve is incorporated to cut off the steering system hydraulic pressure when the nose gear is retracted. Nose gear doors are operated by gear retraction and extension movements through a cable system.
