Remove the Drag Strut Spindle (Fig. 201)

(1)
Remove the spindle lockbolt (6) and loosen the spindle nut (1).

(2)
Remove the upper drag strut which includes the hydraulic swivel, the hydraulic lines of the swivel bracket and the spindle bolt (Ref 32-13-04/401).

(3)
Use the special torque wrench adapter to remove the spindle nut (1) and the splined washer (5).
S 022-008
(4)
Remove the spindle (4) and the spindle washer (3) from the structure.
NOTE: The spindle weighs approximately 30 pounds.

Lubricate the spindle (4) shank, the washer (3) and (5) surfaces, the nut (1) and the spindle threads with grease immediately before installation.

Install the Drag Strut Spindle (Fig. 201)

Insert the spindle washer (3) on the spindle (4), insert the spindle in the structure and install the splined washer (5) and the nut (1).

Install the upper drag strut, the hydraulic swivel bracket, the hydraulic lines and the spindle bolt (AMM 32-13-04/401).
NOTE: After you install the upper drag strut, tighten the spindle
____ nut (1) (before you do a check on the hydraulic connections for leaks or the jury strut for correct alignment). These checks are necessary in AMM 32-13-04/401.

(3) Use the special torque wrench adapter to tighten the spindle nut (1) 3600 to 4800 pound-inches maximum.
