Put the thread protectors on the drag strut spindle and the jury strut spindle.

Lubricate all the washer surfaces, the shank and the threads of bolts, and the spindles immediately before the installation.

ASSEMBLY WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 330 POUNDS. IF YOU DO NOT HOLD
THE PARTS, IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO PARTS OR CAUSE INJURY TO
PERSONS.

Attach the strong back to the drag strut assembly and lift the assembly into its position below the airplane.

Put the drag strut and the jury strut spindles (6 and 9) into the airplane structure.

Remove the thread protectors and install the washers and the nuts on the spindles.

Put a light layer of petrolatum on the lube retainer (5), the interior surface of the bolt and the O-rings.

Install the O-rings (4) on the lube retainer (5) and attach the bolt.

Install the bolt (3) in the universal joint.

Tighten the nut to a torque value of 2400 to 3000 pound-inches maximum.
(b)
Loosen the nut.
