 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE GROUND LOCKPIN IS IN ITS POSITION TO HOLD THE
_______ STRUT BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE NUT AND THE BOLT. THE UPPER JURY STRUT WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 35 POUNDS AND THE TOP END OF THE JURY STRUT CAN FALL. THIS WILL CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO PARTS.
 (4)  
Remove the spindle bolt (5), the end caps (2), and the pin (1) to remove the upper conduit bracket (4).

Pull the conduit assembly away and attach to the structure with the light rope.

 (6)  
Hold the upper jury strut.

 (1)  
Examine the attach points for worn areas (Refer to the task for Body Gear Upper Jury Strut Examination for Worn areas).

Install the upper jury strut (Fig. 201).

 (a)  
Put the lubricant on the washer surfaces, the nuts and the threads of the bolts immediately before the installation.

 (b)  
Lightly apply a layer on the lubrication retainer (9), the O-ring (11), and the inner surface of the apex bolt (10) with petrolatum.

 (c)  
Put the O-ring on the lubrication retainer and install the O-ring in the head end of the apex bolt.

 (d)  
Connect the lubrication retainer with the lock ring (12).

 (e)  Lift the upper jury strut (3) into its position and install the apex bolt (10).
 NOTE: Tighten the nut with your hand temporarily.

 (f)  
Align the upper holes and install the pin (1), the end caps (2), the spindle bolt (5), and the upper conduit bracket (4).

 (g)  
Tighten the nut to maximum torque value of 10 to 15 pound-feet and install the cotter pin.

 NOTE: Loosen the nut if it is necessary to permit the cotter
____
 pin installation.

 (h)  
Install the ground lock in the jury strut.

 (i)  
Attach the junction box to the upper jury strut.

 (j)  
Tighten the apex bolt (10) and install the cotter pin.
