 5.  Sill Assembly Adjustment (Fig. 401)________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
This task gives instructions to adjust the clearance between the sill support fittings and the door latch fittings. The sill support fittings are on the bottom of the two outboard sills. There are five sill support fittings on each outboard sill. The door latch fittings are on the structure below the outboard sills.

 (2)  
You must do this task for the first installation of the sill assembly.

 WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU ARE NEAR THE OPENING OF THE SIDE CARGO
_______ DOOR. INSTALL THE PERSONNEL SAFETY NET ACROSS THE OPENING OF THE DOOR WHEN AN ACCESS STAND OR A PLATFORM IS NOT AT THE DOOR OPENING. THE MAIN DECK COMPARTMENT IS 16 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND. INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR IF THEY FALL THROUGH THE OPENING OF THE DOOR.
 (3)  Install the personnel safety net across the door opening if it is necessary.

 E. Do an Adjustment of the Sill Assembly
 NOTE: The forward outboard sill is adjusted first and then the aft

 outboard sill.

 (1)  Remove the horizontal adjustment shims and the vertical adjustment shims from the sill support fittings on the outboard sill.
 NOTE: There will be seven horizontal adjustment shims at two of the
____ sill support fittings. There will be five vertical adjustment shims at all five of the sill support fittings. The horizontal adjustment shims are 0.05 inch thick. The vertical adjustment shims are 0.02 inch thick (2 shims),
 0.05 inch thick (2 shims), and 0.125 inch thick (1 shim).

Move the outboard sill to the open position (not folded).

 (3)  
Move the outboard sill up or down until it is level (+/-0.050 inch) with the inboard sill.


 NOTE: The outboard sill must stay level with the inboard sill
