A. This procedure contains one task. It is to do a visual inspection/check of the life vests.
B. Life vests for the crew are attached to the rear of each seat in the flight compartment.

Make sure there is a life vest attached to the rear of each seat for the flight crew.

Make sure each life vest is sealed in its protective package and that there is no damage to the package. If there is damage to the package, make sure there is no damage to the life vest.

Repair or replace the life vest if it is necessary.

EMERGENCY SIGNALING EQUIPMENT - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General_______
A. Emergency signaling equipment installed in the upper deck and flight compartment consists of emergency radio beacons. Each item of emergency signal equipment is readily accessible and each location is clearly marked.
2. Emergency Radio Beacons (Fig. 1)_______________________
A. The beacon transmits a swept-tone-modulated signal simultaneously on both civil and military international VHF aeronautical distress frequencies. Antenna erection and battery activation are initiated by water immersion.

CAUTION: DO THIS TEST IN A SCREENED ROOM TO PREVENT DISTRESS
_______ SIGNALS. A TRANSMITTER WITH A RADIATION INDICATOR GIVES OFF FULL RADIATION ON THE TWO DISTRESS FREQUENCIES.
IF NEAR AN AIRPORT WHERE NO SCREENED ROOM IS AVAILABLE, ADVISE THE TOWER OF THE TEST TO IDENTIFY THE DISTRESS SIGNAL AS INCORRECT. KEEP CHECKS TO A MINIMUM OF TIME.
