4. Inflation Triggering Mechanism (Fig. 1)

A. Operation (ignition) of the stored gas bottle, is initiated by a load applied to the bottle firing lanyard. The firing lanyard (approximately 6-inches long) is supplied and installed in each stored gas bottle and connected to the triggering mechanism mounted on the bottle cradle support. The free ball end of the bottle firing lanyard is inserted into a slotted hole in the firing mechanism spring-loaded retainer.
B. The ignition load is applied to the bottle firing lanyard, by the inflation cable connected between the trigger mechanism cable assembly and the top of the packboard assembly. When the escape slide pack assembly (including the packboard assembly) is deployed out of the doorway, tension is applied to the inflation cable and transfers a pull-load to the triggering mechanism cable and the bottle firing lanyard.
