The cargo handling system moves the cargo units longitudinally into the nose cargo door area and laterally into the side cargo door area. As controlled by the loadmaster, the steerable power drive units propel the cargo units to the right or left side of thecompartment.
(3)
Cargo restraints are normally retracted or placed in the guide position until each cargo unit reaches its parking position and then manually extended to restrain cargo units laterally, longitudinally and vertically. The center guide/restraints are retractable to let the cargo units to be moved laterally in the airplane.
B. Control
(1) Forward Retractable Guide Rails Operation
(a)
To extent, do the steps that follow: 1) Pull up on the two release levers to disengage the plungers.
2) On the guide rail, hold the guide rail just aft of the second release lever and lift the guide rail until the guide rail is in the extended position.
(b)
To retract, do the steps that follow: 1) Push down on the two release levers. 2) On the guide rail, hold the guide rail just aft of the
second release lever and lower it down.

(2) Park Rails Operation
(a)
To extent the park rail, lift it up until it latches in the up position.
(b)
To retract the park rail, do the steps that follow: 1) Pull the two release levers on the aft side of the park rail bases.
2) Move the park rail inboard and down to the retracted position.
(3)
Outboard Guide/Restraint Rails Operation
(a)
To extend side lock restraint, push down on side lock release handle until restraint locks in the extended (inboard) position.
(b)
To retract side lock restraint, lift up on side lock release handle until restraint locks in the retracted (outboard) position.
(4)
Retractable Side Door Guide/Restraint Rails Operation
(a)
To extend side lock restraint, push down on side lock release handle until restraint locks in the extended (inboard) position.
(b)
To retract side lock restraint, lift up on side lock release handle until restraint locks in the retracted (outboard) position.
(c)
To retract guide/restraint rails, move rail support retaining pin release handles in outboard direction, then lift and fold rails forward and aft of side cargo door opening.
(d)
To extend guide/restraint rails, lift and fold rails onto rail supports in side cargo door opening then move rail support retaining pin release handles in inboard direction.
(5)
Retractable Side Door Rollout Guide/Stops Operation
NOTE: Side door guide/restraint rails must be retracted to

check rollout guide/stops operation.
(a)
To extend rollout guide/stop head, operate stowage lock plunger release lever on aft side of guide/stop until guide/stop head raises to extended position.
(b)
To retract rollout guide/stop head, push down on retraction trigger outboard of guide/stop until guide/stop head lowers to retracted position.

Side Door Sill Roller/Caster and Guide Assembly Operation
NOTE: Side cargo door must be sufficiently opened to permit
