GUIDE/RESTRAINT RAILS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains these tasks:
(1)
A removal of the guide/restraint rails and rail supports.
(2)
An installation of the guide/restraint rails and rail supports.
B. The rail supports hold the guide/restraint rails to the floor of the cargo compartment.
C. Each task has instructions to remove and install these components in the cargo compartment:
(1)
Forward retractable guide rails
(2)
Guide/restraint rail
(3)
Park Rails
(4)
Retractable guide/restraint rails
(5)
Retractable rollout guide/stops
D. Each task also has instructions to remove and install these components in the aft end of the cargo compartment (P29th pallet position):
(1)
Transition guide rail
(2)
Stowage support for the transition guide rail
(3)
Aft outboard guide/restraint rails

B. Remove the Forward Retractable Guide Rails

Open the circuit breaker and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
(a) P415 Power Distribution Center Right Panel 1) 415F21 MN DK CARGO GUIDE RAIL WRN LTS
(2)
Disconnect the switch wire from the guide rail.

(3)
Lift the quick release pin up to move the swing arm of the guide rail awayfrom the side guide rail.

(4) S 014-158Put the guide rail in the up position to get access to the shear studs.
(5) S 434-157Remove the screws and washers that attach the shear studs to the guide rail bases and the floor fittings.
(6) S 434-159Move the guide rail away from the floor fittings.
(7) S 024-160Remove the guide rail.
Remove the Guide/Restraint Rails

(1)
Turn the DOWN TO LOCK plunger levers to the vertical position to disengage the plungers from the floor fittings.

Push the catch plate at each support to release the guide rail and move the guide rail to the retracted position.

Move the guide rail inboard to let the attachment fittings to be clear from the floor fittings.

Remove the guide/restraint rail.Remove the Park Rail

Pull the release levers on the aft side of the park rail to put the park rail inboard and down to the retracted position.

Turn the DOWN TO LOCK plunger levers to vertical position to disengage the plungers from the floor fittings.

Move the park rail inboard and lift it up from the floor fittings.
