Remove the ceiling lining to get access to the smoke shutter.

To adjust the smoke shutter, do these steps:
(a)
Loosen the two locknuts on the cable.
(b)
Move the locknuts away from the cable bracket to permit the cable to move freely through the cable bracket.
(c)
Push aft on the tee handle until it stops.
(d)
Move the smoke shutter lever to the fully forward position to close the smoke shutter.
(e)
Measure the distance between the end of the cable at the bellcrank to the outboard surface at the stringer S-0.
NOTE: This distance must be 3.01 (+/-0.07) inches.

(f)
If the distance is not 3.01 (+/-0.07) inches, adjust the length of the control rod at the smoke shutter lever.
(g)
Tighten the two locknuts on the cable.

Install the ceiling lining.

FLOOR-MOUNTED ESCAPE SLIDE - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General
_______
A. A floor-mounted escape slide assembly unit is mounted on a pair of floor tracks immediately inboard of the upper deck entry door (Fig. 1).
B. When deployed and inflated, the escape slide forms a semirigid chute to provide the means of rapid escape from the upper deck to the ground or sea level.
C. The escape slide assembly unit is a self-contained unit, comprising the base and chute assembly, the escape slide pack assembly, the slide inflation stored gas bottle, connecting gas supply hoses, and the inflation triggering mechanisms.
D. For clear passage through the entry doorway during ground operations, the escape slide assembly is located in the stowed (nonoperational) position aft of the entry doorway. Movement of the escape slide assembly to the operation ready position, immediately inboard of the entry doorway, is accomplished by disengaging shear plungers from the floor tracks and pushing the assembly forward until movement is prevented by the floor track stops, then releasing the shear plungers to lock in the floor tracks.
Escape Slide Pack (Fig. 1)

A. The escape slide pack assembly includes the inflatable slide chute, three turbine-type pumps, connecting gas supply hoses and the slide packboard assembly. The slide chute together with the turbine pumps and hoses are packed within the packboard assembly and laced with quick-release ties. The entire assembly is secured within the base assembly deployment chute.
