FLOOR-MOUNTED ESCAPE SLIDE - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains three tasks:
(1)
An operational test of the slide mechanism
(2)
An adjustment of the slide mechanism
(3)
A system test of the slide mechanism
B. This procedure refers to the escape slide at the upper deck door as "the slide".

2. Operational Test - Floor-Mounted Escape Slide (Fig. 501)_____________________________________________
A. General
(1)
Before you deploy the slide, it must be inboard of the upper deck door, the door closed and the safety pins from the stored gas bottle removed.
(2)
To deploy the escape slide, pull up the packboard release handle and lift the inboard side of the slide assembly to tilt it through the open doorway.
(3)
The chute and the slide pack apply tension on the release lanyards which release the cover and allow the slide to unfurl outside the doorway. With the final degrees of rotation, a cable connected to the packboard hinge, actuates the stored gas bottle.
(4)
If the stored gas bottle does not fire, it can be actuated by pulling inboard on the manual inflation handle.

Move the slide assembly forward to put it adjacent to the door opening.
(c)
Lock the slide assembly to the tracks.

Open the upper deck door.
