RETRACTABLE CARGO RESTRAINTS - SERVICING

1. General_______
A. This procedure gives instructions to clean and lubricate the retractable cargo restraints in the main deck cargo compartment. Unwanted materials can get caught in the restraints which can cause the restraints to operate slowly. It is necessary to keep the restraints free of the unwanted materials to make sure the restraints will operate correctly.

(1) Use a vacuum cleaner to remove the loose unwanted materials from the restraints if it is necessary.

_______ SAFETY ORGANIZATIONS FOR THE NECESSARY PROCEDURES AND EQUIPMENT WHEN YOU USE SOLVENTS. DO NOT GET THE SOLVENTS IN YOUR MOUTH OR EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE SOLVENTS. USE A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE, GLOVES, AND A RESPIRATOR (IN CONFINED AREAS) WHEN YOU USE THE SOLVENTS. KEEP THE SOLVENTS AWAY FROM ALL SOURCES OF IGNITION (HEAT, FLAME, AND SPARKS). THE SOLVENTS YOU USE ARE POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE CORRECT PROCEDURES AND EQUIPMENT, INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(2) Clean the restraints with a cheesecloth or a brush that is moist with the solvent.

(3) S 143-004Use a clean cheesecloth or a vacuum cleaner to remove the loose unwanted materials and the solvent from the restraints.
(4) S 643-005Lubricate the surfaces of the retractable components on the restraints with the oil.
(5) S 713-006Operate the retractable components on the restraints until they move freely.
(6) S 143-007Remove the unwanted oil from the restraints with a cheesecloth.

MAIN DECK CARGO HANDLING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains these tasks:
(1)
A check of the operation of the cargo drive system.
(2)
An adjustment of the cargo drive system.
(3)
A test of the cargo drive system.
B. All of the tests of the components are included in the applicable component removal and installation procedures. These procedures are usually done without the cargo in the airplane.
(1)
The check for the correct operation makes sure the drive system for the main deck cargo is done in a minimum time frame without special equipment.
(2)
The adjustment for the drive system has all of the adjustments necessary on the system. The component adjustments are in the applicable component removal and installation procedures. This keeps the references to a minimum during the installation procedures.
(3)
The test of the drive system includes the adjustment specifications and the necessary performance requirements.
