MAIN DECK CARGO RESTRAINING SYSTEM-ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General
_______
A. The procedure that follows contains one task. The task is a check for the correct operation of the restraining system for the main deck cargo.
B. The manual extension and retraction of the components move and hold the cargo units in the correct locations.
C. The procedure that follows is done without tools or special equipment.
D. The cargo restraining system has the components that follow:

Forward retractable guide rails
(2)
Outboard guide/restraint rails
(3)
Retractable side door guide/restraint rails
(4)
Retractable side door rollout guide/stops
(5)
Side door sill roller/caster and guide assembly
(6)
Retractable lateral guides
(7)
Retractable center guide/restraints
(8)
Retractable centerline bumper
(9)
Lock/stop roller-caster trays
(10)
Retractable end locks
(11)
Retractable end stops
(12)
Fixed end stops.
E. The cargo restraining system for the P29th pallet position has the components that follow:

Transition guide rail and stowage support
(2)
Forward lock trays

Aft stop trays
(4)
Aft right outboard guide/restraint rail

Left vertical and side restraint/caster unit.

Open the circuit breaker and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
(a) P415 Power Distribution Center Right Panel 1) 415F21 MN DK CARGO GUIDE RAIL WRN LTS

Pull up on the two release levers to release the plungers.

Hold the guide rail just aft of the second release lever and pull the guide rail to the up position.

Make sure the guide rail moves smoothly and freely.

Make sure the guide rail latches correctly.

Make sure the "CAUTION RAILS UP" warning lights flash.

Make sure each vertical restraint on the guide rail is free to turn clockwise and counterclockwise completely outboard of the inboard face, and returns to the center position when release the guide rail.

Push down on the release lever behind the guide rail.

Put the guide rail to the down position.

Make sure the guide rail moves smoothly and freely.

Make sure the "CAUTION RAILS UP" light do not flash.
D. Outboard/Guide Restraint Rails Operation Check

(1) Push down on each release handle until the side lock restraint moves to the extended (inboard) position.
(a) Make sure the movement of the release handle is smooth.
