(a)
Put the trigger lever against the stops.
(b)
If it is necessary, put the trigger lever against the stops as follows:
WARNING: DO NOT ALLOW COCKING LEVER TO MOVE AWAY FROM
_______ SPRING-LOADED VALVE PISTON. IF COCKING LEVER MOVES AWAY FROM SPRING-LOADED VALVE PISTON, BOTTLE WILL DISCHARGE AND MAY CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.
1) Use a rod to hold the cocking lever against the force of the spring-loaded valve piston. 2) While you hold the cocking lever, move the trigger lever until it touches the stops.
(c) Remove the safety pin from the trigger mechanism.
NOTE: The safety pin goes through the trigger mechanism
____ housing and the cocking lever.

C. Procedure
S 212-022
(1) Look at the pressure gage reading and compare it with the minimum allowable pressure at the appropriate temperature that is on the placard on the bottle (Ref detail D).
NOTE: The temperatures on the placard refer to the temperature
____ of the gas inside the bottle. The gas temperature is the same as the outside temperature after two hours at a constant outside temperature.
S 422-023
(2)
If the pressure in the bottle is bottle pressure is less than the minimum pressure shown on the placard, remove the bottle and service it.
S 422-024
(3)
If the pressure in the bottle is acceptable, the gas bottle may be installed or remain in service.

5. Pressurization of Spherical Gas Cylinder________________________________________
A. General
(1) Pressurization of the gas cylinder is at its stored location on the airplane. Do not remove the gas cylinder from the airplane. Do not send through a licensed vehicle for servicing. Do the procedure on the airplane.
B. Charge the gas cylinder with Nitrogen (N2) as follows:
S 022-072
WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THAT THE GAS CYLINDER IS EMPTY. EXAMINE THE PRESSURE GAUGE. BLEED PRESSURE, IF NECESSARY. ALWAYS BLEED THE PRESSURE WITH THE GAS CYLINDER TURNED UPSIDE DOWN.
(1)
Remove the cap on the charge fitting.
S 022-071
(2)
Open the nut on the charge fitting to release the gas (Fig. 202).
S 612-029
(3)
Cock and arm the actuator (Fig. 203).
(a)
Put the cocking rod in the end hole of the cocking arm.
(b)
Apply pressure on the cocking rod to the gas cylinder as far as travel will let.
(c)
Turn the lever to the view port.
(d)
Engage the smaller ball end of the lanyard cable through the ball port in the actuator.
(e)
Put the ball into the lever.
(f)
After the ball engages, apply pressure on the cocking rod.
(g)
Put the lever back outboard to its travel limit.
(h)
Remove the cocking rod.
(i)
Install the bolt safety through the cocking arm in the actuator (Fig. 204).
(j)
Install the nut on the end of the bolt safety.
