Lift the slide by its inboard lower edge to tilt it outboard.
NOTE: This will deploy the slide.

(3) As the slide deploys, see that the following occurs:
(a)
As the slide rotates outboard, lanyards at the forward and the aft sides of the slide release the covers from the slide pack
(b)
The packboard deploys from the chute and the slide deploys from the packboard
(c)
The packboard remains attached to the fuselage
(d)
The slide inflates in less than 10 seconds
(e)
The girt bar holds the slide girt securely in the chute
(f)
The packboard hangs from the chute extension panel
(g)
The chute is latched to the door sill.

(4) If the slide did not inflate, do these steps:
(a)
Pull inboard on the manual inflation handle.
(b)
See that the slide inflates in less than 10 seconds.

(5) Install the barrier (6PRE65B00040) across the door opening.
G. Put the airplane back to its usual condition.

3. Floor-Mounted Escape Slide Adjustment_____________________________________

(1) Adjust the escape slide with the chute in the normal (stowed) position and the stored gas bottle removed.

E. Procedure

(1) Adjust the mechanism that releases the packboard as follows:
(a)
Put the packboard latch in the locked (center detent) position.
(b)
Adjust the linkage until the release handle does not extend from the shroud.
(c)
When you pull the release handle up, see that the latch moves to the not locked (aft detent) position.

(2) Adjust the mechanism that actuates the stored gas bottle.
(a)
If it is necessary, remove the stored gas bottle (AMM 25-68-04/201).
(b)
Disconnect the release lanyards from the slide.
(c)
Attach the release lanyards to the pack covers
NOTE: This is to ensure that the slide will not deploy.
(d)
Adjust the cables that go to the manual inflation handle as follows: 1) Loosen the outer lock nut on each end of the cable
assembly. 2) Look at the inspection holes in the cable end fitting to make sure the threads are engaged satisfactorily. 3) At the bottom bracket, put the lock nuts in the middle of the threads on the cable conduit.
NOTE: Approximately 0.25 inch of thread will show.

4) Tighten the lock nuts and install the safety wire.
5) See that the pins are at the ends of the slots on the terminal and bracket assembly that is near the manual inflation handle.

6) At the top bracket, move the lock nuts to remove all the slack from the cable between the clevis and the bracket. 7) Tighten the lock nuts and install the safety wire.
(e) Move the escape slide outboard to make it touch the door sill.
