(1) Remove the loose or damaged tape and discard it.
NOTE:____The loose or damaged tape must not be used again. The tape will not bond correctly to the cargo lining if you use it again.

(2) Clean the surface of the cargo lining with a cheesecloth or wiper that is moist with the solvent.
NOTE: A clean surface is necessary for the tape to bond correctly

to the cargo lining.
S 348-004
(3) Install the new tape on the cargo lining.
NOTE: The tape must extend equally around the top of the fasteners,
____ joints, and edges on the cargo lining.

(4) Make sure the tape bonds fully to the cargo lining.
NOTE:____There must be no air bubbles below the tape. The tape must be flat on the surface of the cargo lining.

3. Cargo Lining Temporary Repairs

A. General
(1) This procedure gives the instructions to temporarily repair the cargo linings. This procedure uses a tape to repair the cargo linings. The procedure has these parts:
(a) Rub the damaged area with an abrasive paper

(b)
Clean the damaged area with a solvent
(c)
Install the tape on the top of the damaged area.
(2)
The temporary repair of a cargo lining is permitted if the damage is less than a specified limit. Refer to 25-52-01/601 , Containerized Cargo Compartment Ceiling and Sidewall Linings for the damage limits. If the cargo lining is damaged more than the specified limits, then one of these steps below must be done:
(a)
Replace the cargo lining (Ref 25-52-01/401 or 25-55-02/401)
(b)
Do a permanent repair of the cargo lining
(c)
Do a temporary repair of the cargo lining until it can be replaced or permanently repaired.
(3)
You must permanently repair a cargo lining which has temporary repairs in 1000 flight hours or six months.
WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE, FIRE, AND
_______ SAFETY ORGANIZATIONS FOR THE NECESSARY PROCEDURES AND EQUIPMENT WHEN YOU USE SOLVENTS. DO NOT GET THE SOLVENTS IN YOUR MOUTH OR EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE SOLVENTS. USE A PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLE, GLOVES, AND A RESPIRATOR (IN CONFINED AREAS) WHEN YOU USE THE SOLVENTS. KEEP THE SOLVENTS AWAY FROM ALL SOURCES OF IGNITION (HEAT, FLAME, AND SPARKS). THE SOLVENTS YOU USE ARE POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE. IF YOU DO NOT USE THE CORRECT PROCEDURES AND EQUIPMENT, INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(4) This procedure uses a solvent to clean the cargo lining before you install the tape. A clean surface is necessary for the tape to bond correctly to the cargo lining. There must be sufficient air flow in the area where you use the solvents. You must not get the solvents in your mouth or eyes, or on your skin.
