MAIN ENGINE CONTROL - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure gives the removal and installation tasks for the main engine control (MEC).
B. The MEC is installed on the fan case.
C. It is necessary to remove the servo fuel heater to get access to the MEC mounting nuts.
NOTE: You can use the procedure in AMM 73-11-01/401 to remove the fuel
____ pump, the MEC, the heat exchanger of the main oil/fuel and the servo fuel heater as one assembly. After the removal of this assembly, you can remove the attached components and the fittings.
D. The fuel pump package weighs approximately 108 pounds (48.8 kilograms). When you remove the individual components, they have the approximate weights as follows:

(1) Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(a) Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the BAT switch.

Make sure the engine start lever is in the CUTOFF position.

Make sure the FUEL VALVE CLOSED (engine fuel shutoff valve) light on the fuel control panel (P5 overhead panel) is dim.

Install a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag on the applicable engine start lever.
NOTE: The position light for the engine fuel shutoff valve has

three positions:
-bright when the valve is in transition
-dim when the valve is closed - off when the valve is open.

Remove the electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(a) Set the BAT switch on the Electrical Meters Battery and Galley Power Module (P5-13) to the OFF position and install a DO-NOT-OPERATE tag.
(6)
Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
