N2 CONTROL ALTERNATOR SPEED SENSOR - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure makes an inspection of the two electrical grommets that are found in the control alternator stator.
 B.  A damaged grommet that has increased in size can cause a failure of the connector.
 NOTE: This task does not apply to engines that have accomplished

 C.  Make an Inspection of the Speed Sensor for the N2 Control Alternator (Fig. 601)

Open the right fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Remove the stator for the N2 control alternator (AMM 73-21-08/401).

Do these steps to make an inspection of the stator:

 (a)  
Find the grommets in the alternator stator through the core laminations.

 (b)  
Measure the distance from the inner surface of the alternator stator to the edge of the grommet.

 (c)  
Make sure the grommets are 0.20 inch (5.08 mm) below the surface of the alternator stator (Fig. 601).

 (d)  
If the grommets are not in the limit, replace the alternator stator (AMM 73-21-08/401).

 

 (4)  
Install the N2 alternator stator (AMM 73-21-08/401).
