 (17) Carefully remove the MEC from the fuel pump.
 NOTE: Do not damage the drive shaft.

 (a)  
Move the MEC aft, then left and forward until it is away from the engine.

 (b)  
Remove the seal gasket from the mounting flange.

 CAUTION: REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP/MEC GASKET IF IT IS DAMAGED
_______ (AMM 70-30-01/201). DAMAGED GASKETS CAN CAUSE FUEL LEAKS.
 (c)  
Replace the gasket if it is damaged (AMM 70-30-01/201).

 (d)  
Install the coverplate on the forward face of the MEC.

 (18) If it is necessary, do the MEC preservation procedure (AMM 73-00-00/201).

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE END FITTING OF THE VSV ROD. THE REMOVAL OF THIS FITTING CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MEC.
 (19) Remove these fittings and discard the O-rings from the MEC ports (Fig. 407, 408 and 409):
 NOTE: This step is not necessary if the MEC to be installed has all
