Loosen the 6 bolts (200) and re-tighten them to 70-80
pound-inches (8-9 Newton meters).

Lightly lubricate the drain plug (70) with engine fuel.
(m)
Put the new O-ring (80) on the drain plug (70), and install the O-ring and drain plug in the fuel filter cover (50).
(n)
Tighten the drain plug (70) to 45-55 pound-inches (5-6 Newton meters). Lockwire the drain plug in position.
(o)
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the start lever for the applicable engine.
(p)
Close the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

(4) AIRPLANES POST CFMI SB 73-A129; (CONFIGURATION FOUR); Do the steps that follow to install the fuel filter cartridge (Fig. 404):
(a)
Clean the fuel filter housing with de-aromatized petroleum (CP5074).
(b)
Soak the new O-ring and the O-ring located at both ends of the filter element with engine fuel and lightly lubricate the new O-rings with vaseline (CP5070).
NOTE: The O-rings are supplied with and already installed
____ in their groove inside the new filter element.
(c) Install the new O-ring for the fuel filter cover in its groove on the fuel filter cover. Soak the O-ring with fuel and lubricate it with vaseline (CP5070).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE SPRING WASHER AND RETAINING RING ARE
_______ INSTALLED ON THE FILTER COVER. IF THE SPRING WASHER AND RETAINER RING ARE NOT INSTALLED, DAMAGE TO THE FILTER COVER CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE INSPECTION OF THE HOUSING INSERTS, WASHER,
_______ AND BOLTS HAS BEEN DONE (AMM 73-11-02/601).
(d)
Gently place the filter cover in the new filter cartridge.
1) Visually examine the cartridge to make sure the packing O-ring cover side has not escaped from its groove, and make sure the fuel filter does not move.
(e)
Apply graphite grease (CP2101) on the D-head and hex-head bolt threads, flat washers, nuts (the face of the nut that makes contact with the flat washer) (Fig. 406).
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE BOLT TO HELP ENGAGE THE FILTER COVER WITH
_______ THE FILTER HOUSING. IF YOU DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE FUEL FILTER AND FILTER COVER COMPONENTS CAN OCCUR.
(f) Carefully place the filter cover and the filter element cartridge into the gear housing.
NOTE: A wood or plastic hammer may help to engage the
____
cover if necessary.
(g) Install the flat washers and nuts (Fig. 406). 1) Make sure the nuts screw on by hand, as follows:
NOTE:____Do not use any tools for this step. Use only your hands.
a) Rotate the nut at least two complete turns. If the attaching part is in good condition, you should not be able to fully hand-tighten the nut.

(h) Install the flat washer and the bolt. 1) Make sure the bolt engages freely by hand, as follows:
NOTE:____Do not use a tool for this step. Use only your hand.
a) Hold the bolt head between your fingers and rotate the bolt at least two full turns. If the insert is in good condition, you should not be able to fully hand-tighten the bolt.
