Soak a new O-ring with engine fuel and lubricate it with vaseline (CP5070). Install the O-ring on the drain plug.

Lightly coat the drain plug with engine fuel. Install the drain plug and torque to 45-55 pound inches (5-6 Newton meters). Safety the drain plug with lockwire (CP8001 or CP8002).

(5) Do the test for the leak check at engine idle (AMM 71-00-00/501).

FUEL FILTER CARTRIDGE - INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks.
(1)
The first task is an inspection of the fuel filter cartridge for contamination.
(2)
The second task is an inspection of the main fuel pump housing inserts, nuts, washers, and bolts of the fuel filter cover assembly.

Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Remove the fuel filter cartridge from the fuel filter (AMM 73-11-02/401).

Do an examination of the fuel filter cartridge.
(a)
Gently fold back the pleats of the fuel filter cartridge to expose contaminants.
(b)
Move pleats aside to expose area between pleats (Fig.601).
(c)
Refer to the table below for contamination identification and solutions to correct the problems.
