COMPRESSOR INLET TEMPERATURE SENSOR - INSPECTION/CHECK

 1.  General
_______
 A.  This procedure gives the data for the two inspections as follows:
 (1)  
The check for a CIT sensor that has an internal failure.

 (2)  
The external check of the sensor after you remove it from the engine.


 B.  To do the internal inspection of the CIT sensor, it is not necessary to remove the sensor.

 suitable for fuel, local purchase

 (1)  Open the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE PROCEDURE TO OPEN THE THRUST
_______ REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU OPEN THE THRUST REVERSERS, INJURIES TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
 (2)  Open the left thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

F. Check for Internal Failure of the CIT sensor
 S 036-004-C00
 (1)  
Remove the clamps from the bracket that is installed above and aft of the MEC.

 (2)  
Put the container below the aft end of the MEC.

 (3)  
Remove the CIT sensor supply (P6) and return (PB) lines from the MEC.


 (a)  Let the fuel drain into the container.

 WARNING: DO NOT PUT YOUR MOUTH DIRECTLY ON THE CIT SENSOR PORT WHEN YOU
_______ BLOW INTO IT. MAKE SURE THE FUEL DOES NOT GET INTO YOUR FACE OR ON YOUR CLOTHING. INJURIES TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR.
 CAUTION: DO NOT USE A PRESSURE SOURCE THAT IS HIGHER THAN YOUR LUNG
_______ PRESSURE. A HIGHER PRESSURE SOURCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO A GOOD SENSOR.
 (4)  Use the air from your lungs to blow into the sensor return (PB) line (the longest line).
 (a)  Make sure the fuel or air does not come out from the supply (P6) line.
 NOTE: You can use clean plastic or rubber tubing to blow into the
____
 sensor line.

 (5)  Do these steps to remove the CIT sensor if you can see the fuel or air flow come out from the P6 line (AMM 73-21-02/401):
 (a)  Drain the remaining fuel from the sensor.
