 (1)  This task contains these tests:
 (a)  
Gain adjustment, with the PMC Tester Power Supply Unit, of the transducer for the power lever angle (PLA)

 (b)  
Gain adjustment, with a power cable and a digital voltmeter, of the power lever angle (PLA) (alternate procedure)

 (c)  
Differential voltage check of the PLA rotary variable differential transducer (RVDT) of the MEC: 1) PMC Tester Power Supply Unit 2) Digital Voltmeter (Alternate Procedure)

 (d)  
Test of the PMC and related components - (PMC Tester Kit): 1) N1 speed sensor 2) T12 temperature sensor of the fan inlet 3) PS12 static pressure transducer of the fan inlet 4) N2 control alternator 5) Torque motor (TM) 6) The transducer for the power lever angle (PLA).


 NOTE: To help locate a possible intermittent failure of
____ the RVDT, operate the engine at ground idle for a minimum of 5 minutes to increase the temperature of the RVDT.
 7)  The PMC electronics and the closed loop simulation with the PLA flight compartment setting
 8)  PMC ON/INOP - warning light and switch in the flight compartment.
 (e)  PMC and related components tests - (PMC Resistance Tester): 1) The transducer for the power lever angle (PLA) 2) Torque motor (TM) 3) N2 control alternator

 (f)  
PMC and related components - alternate tests - (Digital Voltmeter and Test Leads): 1) The transducer for the power lever angle (PLA) 2) Torque motor (TM) 3) N2 control alternator 4) N1 speed sensor 5) T12 temperature sensor of the fan inlet 6) PMC switch

 (g)  
PMC warning light without the PMC Tester Kit


 (2)  
You can use alternate procedures to do each test.

 (a)  
The PMC Tester gives local "Pass" or "Fail" data for the PMC and the related components.

 (b)  
The PMC Resistance Tester (available from CFM International) measures the resistance of each component with a built-in digital voltmeter.

 (c)  
The alternate procedure checks the resistance of each component with a digital voltmeter and test leads.

 

 (3)  
You must do the test for the gain adjustment for the PLA transducer after you replace:

 (a)  
The power management control (PMC)

 (b)  
The main engine control (MEC)

 (c)  
The PMC wiring harness

 


 B. Equipment
 (1)  
Multimeter - Digital (optional), capable of
 measuring 7.5 |0.02 volts AC and 2.5 ohms to 10
 megohms, local purchase


 (2)  
Pin - Part Power Rig, C76001-1 (kept in
 airplane fly-away kit found in electronics
 compartment [kit is attached to the
 forward-outboard leg of the battery support])
 or equivalent 0.248 (+0.000/-0.003) inch
 diameter, 2.5 inches long rod or bolt.


 (3)  
Power Cable (optional) - 856A1262, Engine to
 Engine (100 feet) (30.5 m), (856A1262 is
 superseded by 856A1330)


 (4)  
Power Cable Kit (optional) - 856A1330, CFM
 International
