(1) ENGINES PRE CFMI SB 73-125 AND PRE CFMI SB 73-A129; (CONFIGURATION ONE); Do the steps that follow to install the fuel filter cartridge (Fig. 402):
(a) Soak the four new O-rings, (10), (60), (80), and (90), with engine fuel. Lightly lubricate the new O-rings with petrolatum lubricant (CP2102).
NOTE: You can find the two smaller O-rings, (10) and (60),
____ at each end of the inner passage of the fuel filter cartridge (20).
(b) Install the new O-ring (90), in the groove of the fuel filter cover (50).
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE FILTER COVER ON ITS AXIS AFTER YOU HAVE
_______ INSTALLED THE FUEL FILTER CARTRIDGE. THIS WILL DAMAGE THE O-RINGS ON THE FUEL FILTER CARTRIDGE.
(c) Install the new fuel filter cartridge (20), in the filter housing.
NOTE: Make sure that the filter cartridge correctly
____ engages the guide at the bottom of the filter housing.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE SPRING WASHER AND RETAINING RING ARE
_______ INSTALLED ON THE FILTER COVER. IF THE SPRING WASHER AND RETAINER RING ARE NOT INSTALLED, DAMAGE TO THE FILTER CARTRIDGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE INSPECTION OF THE HOUSING INSERTS,
_______ WASHER, AND BOLTS HAS BEEN DONE (AMM 73-11-02/601).
(d) Install the filter cover (50), on the filter cartridge (20), and carefully engage the filter cover with the filter housing.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FILTER COVER IS CORRECTLY ENGAGED WITH
_______ THE FILTER HOUSING. DAMAGE TO THE FILTER CARTRIDGE, COVER, AND HOUSING CAN OCCUR IF THE FILTER COVER IS NOT CORRECTLY INSTALLED.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE COVER BOLTS TO HELP ALIGN OR ENGAGE THE
_______ FILTER COVER WITH FILTER HOUSING. DAMAGE TO THE FILTER CARTRIDGE CAN OCCUR.
(e)
Before you install the cover bolts (40), make sure the filter cover (50), is correctly installed on the flange of the filter housing.
(f)
Apply graphite grease (CP2101) to the threads of the bolts (40).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BOLTS ENGAGE FREELY BY HAND BEFORE YOU
_______
TIGHTEN THE BOLTS INTO POSITION.
(g) With your hands, install the washers (30), and bolts (40).
NOTE:____ Initially, do not use tools to install the bolts.
(h) Tighten the bolts (40) with your hand.
NOTE:____ The bolt should rotate at least two complete turns. It
should not be possible to fully hand tighten the bolts.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO TIGHTEN THE BOLTS TO THE CORRECT TORQUE
_______ RANGE. IF YOU DO NOT DO SO, IT MAY DAMAGE THE HARDWARE AND CAN CAUSE SEVERE EXTERNAL FUEL LEAKAGE.
(i) Tighten the bolts (40) to 70-80 pound-inches (8-9 Newton-meters).

Lightly lubricate the drain plug (70) with engine fuel.
(k)
Put the new O-ring (80) on the drain plug (70), and install the O-ring and drain plug in the fuel filter cover (50).
(l)
Tighten the drain plug to 45-55 pound-inches (5-6 Newton-meters). Lockwire the drain plug into position.
(m)
Remove the DO-NOT-OPERATE tag from the start lever for the applicable engine.
(n)
Close the left fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).

CAUTION: THE MAIN FUEL PUMPS, MODELS 708300-1 AND 708300-2, CANNOT BE
_______ ASSEMBLED WITH THE PROCEDURE FOR CONFIGURATIONS TWO AND THREE. THE GEAR HOUSING DESIGN FOR THESE MODELS DOES NOT PERMIT A GOOD WASHER SETTING.
CAUTION: DO NOT MIX THE HARDWARE FROM CONFIGURATIONS TWO AND THREE.
