 A. Procedure
 (1)  To trouble-shoot the Engine Fuel and Control system, refer to the trouble-shooting diagrams in Chapter 71 (AMM 71-00-40/101).

ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

 1.  General_______
 A.  This subject contains two tasks. The first task is to do the
 preservation procedure for the main engine control (MEC). The second
 task is to do the storage procedure for the MEC.

 TASK 73-00-00-112-002-C00
 2.  MEC Preservation________________
 A.  Consumable Materials
 (1)  
Oil - Fuel System Preventative (CP2850) (AMM 70-10-01/201)

 (2)  
Alcohol - Isopropyl (CP1041), local purchase

 B.  Clean the MEC (Fig. 201)
 S 172-016-C00
 WARNING:_______SOLVENT IS FLAMMABLE. YOU MUST FOLLOW PRECAUTIONS AGAINST FIRE AND YOU MUST BE IN AN AREA THAT IS OPEN TO THE AIR. YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
 CAUTION: DO NOT FILL THE CDP, CBP OR THE ALTITUDE BIAS SENSOR PORTS WITH
_______ OIL. OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MEC CALIBRATION OR CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MEC OPERATION.
 DO NOT USE TAPE AS A COVER FOR THE PORTS ON THE MEC. THE TAPE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MEC.
 (1)  Do these steps to flush the MEC
 NOTE: Flush the MEC with isopropyl alcohol (CP1041) when you think
____ the fuel in the MEC is contaminated with water. This will prevent damage from corrosion.
 (a)  
Drain the fuel from the MEC PCR port.

 (b)  
Fill the MEC with isopropyl alcohol (CP1041) through the PCR port.

 (c)  
Turn and shake the MEC quickly to clean it internally.

 (d)  
Drain the isopropyl alcohol (CP1041) from the MEC.

 (e)  
Fill the MEC with preventative oil (CP2850) through the PCR port.

 3.  MEC Storage___________
 A.  Consumable Materials
 (1)  Oil - Fuel System Preventative (CP2850) (AMM 70-10-01/201)
 B.  If you put the MEC into storage for less than 30 days do these steps:

 (1)  Drain all the unwanted fluid from the MEC.
