CAUTION:_______ THE MAIN FUEL PUMPS, MODELS 708300-1 AND 708300-2, CANNOT BE
ASSEMBLED WITH THE PROCEDURE FOR CONFIGURATION THREE. THE GEAR
HOUSING DESIGN FOR THESE MODELS DOES NOT PERMIT A GOOD WASHER
SETTING.
CAUTION: DO NOT MIX THE HARDWARE FROM CONFIGURATIONS TWO AND THREE.
_______ THESE CONFIGURATIONS ARE VISUALLY THE SAME, BUT ARE DIFFERENT IN DESIGN. DAMAGE TO THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING AND CARTRIDGE CAN OCCUR IF YOU MIX THE HARDWARE FROM THESE TWO CONFIGURATIONS.
(3) ENGINES POST CFMI SB 73-125 AND PRE CFMI SB 73-A129; (CONFIGURATION THREE); Do the steps that follow to install the fuel filter cartridge (Fig. 403):
(a) Soak the four new O-rings, (10), (60), (80), and (90), with engine fuel. Lightly lubricate the new O-rings with petrolatum lubricant (CP2102).
NOTE: You can find the two smaller O-rings, (10) and (60),
____ at each end of the inner passage of the fuel filter cartridge (20).
(b) Install the new O-ring (90), in the groove of the fuel filter cover (50).
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE FILTER COVER ON ITS AXIS AFTER YOU INSTALL
_______ THE FUEL FILTER CARTRIDGE. THIS WILL DAMAGE THE O-RINGS ON THE FUEL FILTER CARTRIDGE.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE SPRING WASHER AND RETAINING RING ARE
_______ INSTALLED ON THE FILTER COVER. IF THE SPRING WASHER AND RETAINER RING ARE NOT INSTALLED, DAMAGE TO THE FILTER CARTRIDGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE INSPECTION OF THE HOUSING INSERTS, WASHER,
_______ AND BOLTS WAS DONE (AMM 73-11-02/601).
(c) Gently place the filter cover (50) into the new fuel cartridge (20).

Visually inspect through the cartridge to make sure the packing O-ring did not escaped from its groove, and also make sure the filter does not move.
(e)
Install the filter cover (50) and the new fuel filter cartridge (20) in the filter housing.
NOTE: Make sure that the filter cartridge correctly
____ engages the guide at the bottom of the filter housing.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FILTER COVER IS CORRECTLY ENGAGED WITH
_______ THE FILTER HOUSING. DAMAGE TO THE FILTER CARTRIDGE, COVER, AND HOUSING CAN OCCUR IF THE FILTER COVER IS NOT CORRECTLY INSTALLED.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE THE COVER BOLTS TO HELP ALIGN OR ENGAGE THE
_______ FILTER COVER WITH FILTER HOUSING. DAMAGE TO THE FILTER CARTRIDGE CAN OCCUR.
(f)
Before you install the cover bolts (200), make sure the filter cover (50), is correctly installed on the flange of the filter housing.
(g)
Apply graphite grease (CP2101) to the threads of the bolts (200), self-aligning nuts (220), and flat washers (210).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE TO USE THE CORRECT HARDWARE FOR THE INSTALLED
_______ CONFIGURATION. USE OF THE INCORRECT BOLTS, NUTS, AND WASHERS CAN DAMAGE THE UNIT. GIVE SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE SELF-ALIGNING NUT AND WASHER INSTALLATION.
CAUTION: DO NOT MIX HARDWARE FROM CONFIGURATIONS TWO AND THREE ON
_______ THE SAME MAIN FUEL PUMP.
(h) With your hands, install the 6 bolts (200), 6 flat washers (210), 6 self-aligning washers (230), and 6 self-aligning nuts (220) (Fig. 405):
NOTE: Initially, do not use tools to install the bolts,

washer, and nuts.
