Operate the hoist or the crane until it holds the weight of the fuel pump package.
(e)
Install the jacking block on the QAD ring (Fig. 410, View B).
CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE QAD RING BOLT TO MORE THAN
_______ 300 POUND-INCHES (34 NEWTON METERS). THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE QAD RING.
(f) Hit the QAD ring lightly in the counterclockwise direction.
1) Tighten the QAD bolt until the QAD ring moves sufficiently to disengage the fuel pump from the AGB.
NOTE: When you remove the fuel pump package, it will be
____ necessary to move the cables and plumbing lines to the side to make a space for the assembly.
(g)
Carefully move the fuel pump package aft to disengage the drive shaft to the fuel pump from the AGB drive pad.
(h)
Remove the fuel pump package from the engine.
(i)
Remove the gasket from the QAD ring.
(j)
Inspect the preformed packing of the gasket for damage.
(k)
ENGINES PRE-CFMI-SB 73-114; If the preformed packing is not serviceable, discard the gasket.
(l)
ENGINES POST-CFMI-SB 73-114; If the preformed packing is not serviceable: 1) Remove the preformed packing from the metal ring. 2) Discard the preformed packing.
(m)
Remove the O-ring from the drive shaft to the fuel pump.
(n)
Discard the O-ring from the drive shaft to the fuel pump.

(20) Install a cover on the AGB mounting face.

(21) If it is necessary, do the steps that follow to remove the MEC from the fuel pump package:
(a)
Remove the heated servo supply (FUEL-OUT) line that goes from the servo fuel heater to the MEC.
(b)
Remove the six MEC mounting nuts and washers that attach the
MEC to the fuel pump.
CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE MEC. KEEP THE DRIVE SHAFT PERPENDICULAR TO THE SURFACE OF THE FUEL PUMP MOUNT. DO NOT USE THE DRIVE SHAFT TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE MEC. THE MEC WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 57 POUNDS (26 KG).
MOVE ALL THE PLUMBING LINES OR THE CABLES TO THE SIDE. USE YOUR HAND TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE MEC. MAKE SURE THAT THE THROTTLE LEVER, FUEL SHUTOFF LEVER, ELECTRICAL CABLES AND THE DISCONNECTED PLUMBING LINES ARE NOT SQUEEZED OR STRAINED. THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO THESE PARTS.
(c) Carefully remove the MEC from the fuel pump.
NOTE: Do not cause damage to the drive shaft.

(d)
Move the MEC aft, then left and forward until it is away from the engine.
(e)
Remove the seal gasket from the mounting flange.
(f)
Replace the gasket if it is damaged (AMM 70-30-01/201).
(g)
Install the overplate on the forward face of the MEC.

(22) If it is necessary, do the MEC preservation procedure (AMM 73-00-00/201).

CAUTION:_______DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE VSV/VBV ROD END FITTING. IF YOU REMOVE THE FITTING, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MEC.
(23) Remove the fittings from these MEC ports (Fig. 411):
