Carefully align the MEC on the rear face of the fuel pump.

 (i)  
Move the MEC forward from the left side, then move it rearwards, and then move it forward.

 (j)  
Turn the drive shaft for the fuel pump to align the splines on the fuel pump with the splines on the MEC.

 (k)  
Attach the MEC to the fuel pump with the six washers and the six self-locking nuts.

 (l)

Tighten the nuts, with the sequence above, again.

Tighten the nuts to a torque of 100-130 pound-inches (11-15 Newton meters).

 CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE CAPS FROM THE MEC PORTS UNTIL YOU
_______ INSTALL THE FITTINGS. IF YOU REMOVE ALL THE CAPS, CONTAMINATION OF THE PORTS CAN OCCUR.
 (6)  
Install new O-rings, lubricated with petrolatum, on the fittings.

 (7)  
Install the fittings that follow in the applicable MEC ports (Fig. 411, 412 and 413):


 NOTE: This step is not necessary if the MEC to be installed has

 all the fittings installed.

 NOTE: The VSV/VBV ROD end fitting is permanently installed on
____
 the MEC and is not removed.

 (a)  
VBV OPEN - Tighten to 270-300 pound-inches
 (30-34 Newton meters).


 (b)  
VSV HEAD - Tighten to 270-300 pound-inches
 (30-34 Newton meters).


 (c)  
TC1 - Tighten to 180-200 pound-inches (20-25 Newton meters). 1) Install the flexible hose to the TC1 fitting. 2) Tighten the coupling nut to 270-300 pound-inches

 (30-34 Newton meters).

 (d)  
TC2 - Tighten to 135-150 pound-inches (15-17 Newton meters). 1) Install the flexible hose to the TC2 fitting. 2) Tighten the coupling nut to 135-150 pound-inches

 (15-17 Newton meters).

 (e)  
ENGINES WITHOUT THE HPTCC TIMER; Do these steps if the TC3 and/or the PC ports do not have plugs installed: 1) Install new O-rings, lubricated with petrolatum, on each


 hex-head plug. 2) Install the plugs in the TC3 and/or PC ports. 3) Tighten the plugs to 40-60 pound-inches
 (4.5-6.8 Newton meters).

(f)  ENGINES WITH THE HPTCC TIMER;
 Do these steps to attach the TC3 and the PC lines:
 1) TC3 - Tighten to 135-150 pound-inches

 (15-17 Newton meters).
 a) Connect the flexible hose to the TC3 fitting.
 b) Tighten the coupling nut to 135-150 pound-inches

 (15-17 Newton meters). 2) PC - Tighten to 135-150 pound-inches (15-17 Newton meters).
 (g)  
PCR - Tighten to 135-150 pound-inches
 (15-17 Newton meters).


 (h)  
HEATED SERVO SUPPLY (FUEL-OUT) - Tighten to
 360-400 pound-inches (41-45 Newton meters).
