If the PMC Tester consistently diagnoses a failure to a particular UUT, replace the UUT. If the UUT you have replaced does not pass with retest, do the following: 1) Make sure tester is set up correctly. 2) Make sure you are following this manual and that all
connections are tight and clean. 3) If possible, verify UUT is operational.

(11) Test Interpretation
(a)
Tests are sequenced to find the most likely failed component. The procedures that follow will trouble shoot the system to the part that requires removal. A passed test shows no need to remove UUT. A failed test shows a need to remove and replace UUT.
(b)
OL indicator on Fluke 77 shows an over range indication for resistance. This indication may be a pass condition for readings with a minimum allowable resistance.
Example: Minimum 10M ohm test limit-OL read on Fluke is a
Passed test.
J. PMC and Related Components Tests (Digital Voltmeter and Test Leads) Voltmeter (Alternate Method)
NOTE: This procedure permits you to do troubleshooting of the PMC and
____ the related components when a PMC tester is not available. To do this procedure, the inputs to the PMC are isolated.
You cannot do all the checks that you can with the PMC tester. As an example, you cannot do a check of the PS12 transducer or the NLR schedule.
If you use this procedure to find out is the PMC should be replaced, make sure you do a ckeck of all the related components to make sure they operate correctly.
This procedure uses a multimeter and test leads. Make sure the test leads can touch the test pins and not other adjacent pins or the connector shields.
The multimeter and isolation pins give an individual PASS or FAIL test of the electrical components that are related to the PMC.

Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

Disconnect the P3 connector from the J3 port on the PMC (Fig. 504 Sheet 2).

Do these steps to do the test of the PMC and related components:
(a) PLA transducer - resistance check of the primary and secondary windings 1) Do an insulation resistance check of the items on the
wiring harness for the control parameters that follow: a) The pin P3-6 and the cable shield (10 megohms minimum) b) The pin P3-6 and a ground (10 megohms minimum) c) The pin P3-17 and the cable shield (10 megohms minimum) d) The pin P3-17 and a ground (10 megohms minimum) e) The pins P3-6 and P3-17 (10 megohms minimum).
2) Do a continuity check of the items on the wiring harness for the control parameter that follow: a) The pins P3-6 and P3-7 (14 to 180 ohms) b) The pins P3-17 and P3-18 (28 to 90 ohms).
3) If all of the checks are in the limits, this test is completed. a) Go the the next test (resistance check of the winding
for the torque motor (TM)). 4) If one or more of the checks are not in the limits, continue with this MEC check. 5) Disconnect the wiring harness for the control parameter (blue cable) from the MEC.
NOTE: This is the PLA position connector on the aft lower

side of the MEC.
