CONTROL WHEEL POSITION SENSOR - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General_______
A. This procedure has one task. This task is the test of the control wheel position transmitter with the use of the portable tester or the autopilot test set.

2. Control Wheel Position Transmitter Adjustment Test with the Portable Tester____________________________________________________________________________
A. Special Tools and Equipment
(1)
One of these portable testers which can select SUBFRAMES and WORDS to show the data for the flight data recorder. The Teledyne tester 2222786 or the AlliedSignal 981-6301-002 can be used when testing on airplanes installed with flight data recorder (FDR) that records up to 64 wps. Use the Teledyne tester 2229738-1 on airplanes installed with FDR that records up to 128 wps. Use the Teledyne tester 2229738-1 Mod E on airplanes installed with 256 wps FDR.

NOTE: The tester cable consists of a cable assembly that is
____ approximately 60 inches long with a connector and a dust cap on each end. Use the -2 cable of the -1 kit when using the Teledyne tester 2222786. Use the -32 cable of -30 kit (on airplanes with FDEP) or -35 cable of the -49 kit (on airplanes without FDEP) when using the AlliedSignal tester 981-6301-002. Use the -60 cable of the -59 kit when using the the Teledyne tester 2229738-X.

Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).

Remove the shorting plug from the system test plug on the P18 panel.

Use the adapter cable to connect the portable tester to the system test plug.

Set the portable tester switches as follows:

WARNING: MAKE SURE PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Supply pressure to hydraulic systems A and B (Ref 29-15-00/201).
E. Sensor Test

Make sure the flight data recorder TEST--NORMAL switch is in the TEST position.
(2)
Make sure the control wheel is in the neutral position.
