CONTROL COLUMN POSITION SENSOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. There are two tasks in this procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of the position sensor for the control column.
B. For these tasks it is necessary to open the Forward Access Door, 1103.

(1) Rigging Pin E-1 - 0.311 +0.000/-0.002-inch diameter, 6 inches long (MS20392-4)

Remove the pressure from the hydraulic systems A and B and STANDBY (Ref 29-15-00/201).

Open these circuit breakers:
(a) P18 Load Control Panel
1) FLIGHT RECORDER AC
2) FLIGHT RECORDER DC
3) FLIGHT RECORDER POSITION SENSORS

(3) Open the forward access door, 1103.
E. Position Sensor Removal (Fig. 401)

Install the rigging pin E-1 in the control quadrant of the left forward elevator.
(2)
Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.

Disconnect the sensor control cables from the sensor pulley, spring, and quadrants on the elevator forward quadrants cross-shaft.

Remove the bolt, nut, and washer to remove the pulley from the sensor shaft.

Remove the two clamp screws that hold the sensor to the bracket.

Put the sensor in the support bracket.

Apply a thin layer of the corrosion preventive compound on the internal and external surfaces of the mating threads.

Install the sensor clamp screws.
(4)
Tighten the screws to 30-35 lb-in.
(5)
Install the pulley drum on the end of the shaft.
(6)
Attach the pully drum with the bolt, nut, and washer.
