SPEED BRAKE TAKEOFF WARNING SWITCH - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure has two tasks. The tasks include a removal and an installation of the speed brake takeoff warning switch (S651).
B. The switch is installed on the control stand in the top left forward position. The switch is operated by an actuator on the speed brake lever.

2. Speed Brake Takeoff Warning Switch Removal__________________________________________
A. Access

B. Procedure

(1) Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
(a) P6 Load Control Center - Right
1) LANDING GEAR LIGHTS

(2)
Remove the switch cover from the control stand.

(3)
Remove the switch:
(a)
Disconnect the electrical wires from the switch.
(b)
Remove the attachment nuts and screws.
(c)
Remove the switch (Fig 401, Detail A).
(d)
Remove the actuator from the switch.

(1) Install the switch:
(a)
Put the actuator on the switch.
(b)
Attach the switch to the indicator plate with the bolts (Fig 401, Detail A).
NOTE: Do not tighten the attachment nuts until you adjust the

switch.

Put the speed brake lever in the DOWN position.

Adjust the switch:
(a)
Lift the speed brake lever out of the DOWN position and move it aft.
(b)
Connect an ohmmeter between terminals C and NC of the switch. 1) Make sure there is continuity between the terminals.
(c)
Put the speed brake lever back into the DOWN position.
(d)
Connect an ohmmeter between terminals C and NO of the switch. 1) Make sure there is continuity between the terminals. 2) If it is necessary, adjust the switch attachment screw
until you get continuity.
(e)
Use shims to lift the speed brake lever directly up 0.01 to
0.02 of an inch.
1) Make sure the continuity stays between the C and NO terminals.
