Make sure the OFF light and the OVERHEAD MASTER CAUTION ANNUNCIATOR are on.
(i)
Put the oil pressure plug on engine No. 1 to its usual condition.
(j)
Push one of the MASTER CAUTION lights.
(k)
Open this circuit breaker:
1) P18-2 Panel
a) FLIGHT RECORDER DC
(l)
Put a jumper between pins 1 and 2 of plug D752 for the oil pressure switch on engine No. 2.
(m)
Close this circuit breaker:
1) P18-2 Panel
a) FLIGHT RECORDER DC
(n)
Make sure the OFF light and the OVERHEAD MASTER CAUTION ANNUNCIATOR lights are off.
(o)
Open this circuit breaker:
1) P18-2 Panel
a) FLIGHT RECORDER DC
(p)
Remove the jumper from pins 1 and 2 of plug D752.
(q)
Close this circuit breaker:
1) P18-2 Panel

Push one of the MASTER CAUTION lights.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU OPEN THE AIR/GND RELAY AND LIGHTS CIRCUIT BREAKER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU GO TO THE AIR MODE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Do this test of the activation of the flight data recorder by the AIR/GND relay:
(a)
Open this circuit breaker:
1) P6-3 Panel
a) AIR/GND RELAY AND LIGHTS
(b)
Make sure the OFF light and the OVERHEAD MASTER CAUTION ANNUNCIATOR lights are off.
(c)
Close this circuit breaker:
1) P6-3 Panel
a) AIR/GND RELAY AND LIGHTS
(d)
Make sure the OFF light and the OVERHEAD MASTER CAUTION ANNUNCIATOR lights are on.

(6) Do this BITE test:
(a)
Put the TEST-NORMAL switch to the TEST position.
(b)
Make sure the flight data recorder OFF light is off.
(c)
Make sure the DFDR FAIL light on the FDAU is off.
(d)
Push and hold the READ button on the FDAU.
(e)
Make sure these indications occur: 1) The FAIL, CAUTION, and DFDR FAIL lights on the FDAU come on
momentarily. 2) The STATUS display on the FDAU reads FFF and then 888. 3) After approximately four seconds, the FAIL, CAUTION, and
DFDR FAIL lights go out, and the STATUS display changes to
000. 4) After approximately four seconds the status display will change to the software part number.
5) After approximately four seconds the status display will change to 000.

NOTE: BITE codes of 001 (DFDR BITE) and 502 (DFDR
____ playback) show when the flight data recorder does not operate. The DFDR FAIL light will come on when code 001 shows. The CAUTION light will come on when code 502 shows. These failures will automatically be clear when the flight data recorder operates. If any other failures occur, examine the FAIL light. If the FAIL light is on, replace the FDAU (AMM 31-24-22/401).
(f)
Release the READ button on the DFDAU.
(g)
Make sure the OFF light is off.
