(2) AIRPLANES WITH A SYSTEM TEST PLUG INSTALLED IN THE P18 PANEL; Do these steps to install the portable tester:
(a)
Remove the shorting plug from the system test plug on the P18 panel.
(b)
Use the adapter cable to connect the portable tester to the system test plug on the P18 panel.
(c)
Set the switches on the portable tester to these positions:

E. Position Sensor Test

Make sure the TEST--NORMAL switch for the flight data recorder is in the TEST position.

Use the trammel bar to set the horizontal stabilizer B dimension at
41.57 +- 0.01 inches (3 units of trim).

Set the mach trim actuator at the null position (AMM 27-31-00/201).

Do these steps for the left elevator position transmitter:
(a)
BEJ 113; Set the portable tester to subframe 2, word 45.
(b)
BEJ 101-112; Set the portable tester to subframe 0, word 5. 1) Make sure the portable tester display shows 0000.
(c)
If the display does not show 0000, do these steps: 1) Remove hydraulic systems A and B (AMM 27-21-00/201). 2) Open the access panel to get access to the left elevator
transmitter. 3) Loosen the two clamp screws. 4) Turn the transmitter until the mark align with the mark on
