(b)
This BITE sequence tests all functions that are practicable within the equipment and displays fault code via the engine OIL QTY digital display counter. Table B gives the module area tested and fault codes. If a successful BITE check is accomplished, then the lowest value of each LED pointer shall read-out simultaneously and slew to the highest possible value. All digital counters will energize all seven segments of each character in the display. Upon test completion, the displays will revert to their pretest conditions.

ENGINE INSTRUMENT SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING
___________________________________________
1. General_______
A. The Engine Instrument System (EIS) has a primary display and a secondary display. The displays are instrument panels that are controlled by a microprocessors. The displays are not attached.
B. You have an internal failure or malfunction when the pointer and numeric counter (if applicable) go out of view. A fault code will be shown when you do BITE. The fault code identifies which internal module is defective (Ref 31-42-00).
C. The EIS can also find interface failures. The analog sensors and digital signals into the EIS are continuously monitored. A sensor failure, a signal failure, or the loss of input power, is shown as in Table A.
D. You trouble shoot the Engine Instrument System (EIS) when you do a BITE test. You do a BITE test when you push and hold the BITE test button. The BITE test button is a push switch on the lower part of the faceplate.
