When you move one of the thrust levers forward to the takeoff position, the warning system operates.

If the flaps, the speedbrakes, or the stabilizer are not in (or move out of) the takeoff configuration, the intermittent horn operates.

On airplanes with a parking brake aural warning installed, an intermittent horn also operates if the parking brakes are on.

A leading edge and trailing edge flap position test is given at the end of these procedures.
(a) This test uses the L.E. WARNING TEST switch (S784) and the WARNING OVERRIDE TEST switch (S785), installed on the E3-1 shelf.

(1) Prepare to test.
(a)
Put chocks on the landing gear wheels then release the parking brake.
(b)
Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag:
1) On the load control center - right panel, P6: a) AURAL WARN

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).
(d)
Supply hydraulic system A and B power (AMM 27-51-00/201 and AMM 29-15-00/201).
(e)
Move the two thrust levers to the idle position.
(f)
Set the stabilizer position indicator to the center of the green band +/- 1 unit.
(g)
Extend the flaps to the takeoff range (1, 2, 5, 10, or 15 unit detent).
(h)
Put the control lever for the speed brake in the DOWN detent position.
(i)
Put the engine start levers at the control stand in the "cutoff" position.
(j)
Make sure these circuit breakers are closed:
1) On the P6 panel:
a) FLAP POS IND - L.E. & T.E.
b) LND GR AIR/GND RELAY & LTS
c) AURAL WARN
d) INDICATOR (section 6)

(2) Do a test of the Takeoff Warning Switches operated by the thrust levers, thrust lever No. 1 (S814), and thrust lever No. 2 (S815).
(a)
Do the Prepare-To-Test tasks.
(b)
Make sure that the thrust levers are at the idle position.
(c)
Put the stabilizer to a position out of the green band range as follows: 1) For the 737-300, 1.0 - 6.3 units
(d)
Put a protractor with an adapter on the No. 1 thrust lever and set the protractor to zero degrees (Fig. 501).
NOTE: If you use the FMC-CDU to measure the thrust lever
____ movement, follow the instructions at the start of this procedure.

Make sure this circuit breaker is closed:
1) On the P6 panel:
a) AURAL WARN

Move the No. 1 thrust lever forward.
1) Make sure you hear the intermittent horn when the thrust lever is between 28 and 33 degrees forward of the idle position.
(g)
Move the thrust lever slowly aft.
