Make sure the IRS transfer switch is in the NORM position.

Make sure the two IRUs are aligned and in the NAV mode (Ref 34-28-01/501).
(d)
Make sure the SYS DSPL switch is in the L position.
(e)
Set the portable tester to SUBFRAME 0, WORD 54.
(f)
Hold DSPL SEL switch on the ISDU to the Test position for more than 10 seconds.
(g)
Make sure the portable tester display is 1370 to 1510.

(4) Do this test of the signals from the right IRU.
(a)
Turn the SYS DSPL knob to the R position.
(b)
Put the IRS transfer switch in the BOTH-ON-2 (or BOTH-ON-R) position.
(c)
Set the portable tester to SUBFRAME 0, WORD 29.
(d)
Hold the DSPL SEL switch on the ISDU to the TEST position for more than 10 seconds.
(e)
Make sure the portable tester display is 6736 to 7224.

Set A and B PITOT STATIC HEAT switches to the OFF position.
NOTE: This removes the heater power from the angle-of-airflow
____ (Alpha) vanes, so you can touch the vanes and not get burns.

WARNING:_______MAKE SURE THE VANE IS COOL BEFORE YOU TOUCH IT. HOT ALPHA VANES CAN BURN YOU BADLY.

Turn the left vane slowly to make sure it moves freely.

Attach the portable airflow sensor calibrator to the left vane.

Make sure the A SNSR EXC AC circuit breaker on the P18-1 circuit breaker panel is closed.

Do this test of the signals from the SMC:

Use the protractor to put the left alpha vane to the 11° trailing edge up position.

Set the portable tester to SUBFRAME 0, WORD 9.
(c)
Make sure the portable tester display is 1042 to 1120.

Put the left vane in its usual condition.
